Summary
ParseLift is a strength training app. This page explains what data we handle, why we need it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. In plain English: your training data stays on your phone unless you sign in, we never sell it, and you can export or delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
ParseLift is developed and operated by Lucas Ekström, Sweden, who is the data controller for the processing described on this page. For any privacy question or request, write to support@parselift.com. This address is the official contact for data protection matters.
2. What data the app handles
ParseLift is a fitness planning and tracking app. To do that, it needs to know some things about you and your training. The categories below describe what the app may collect:
- Account data (optional): your email address, display name, and sign-in method if you choose to create an account.
- Training profile: age, biological sex (used for body metric defaults only), height, bodyweight, training history, motivation, and self-reported restrictions or injuries.
- Training data: workout plans, sessions, sets, reps, weights, personal records, exercise notes, and templates.
- Daily and session check-ins: sleep, energy, soreness, session feel, and rate of perceived exertion. Used to tune the plan.
- Preferences: weight unit, theme, equipment profiles, banned exercises, notification settings.
- Subscription state: whether your Pro subscription is active, the product you purchased, and the time the subscription was last verified.
- Assistant history (Pro only): messages you send to the AI coach and the replies you receive.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and technical logs from the app and the server. These do not include your training numbers or the content of your assistant conversations.
The app does not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, microphone, or camera.
3. Data stored on your device
Everything listed above is stored locally on your phone by default. If you never sign in, none of this leaves the device. The offline-first design means the app works fully without an internet connection.
4. Data synced when you sign in
If you sign in, your training data is mirrored to a secure cloud database provided by Google Firebase so you can restore it on another phone. Each user's data is stored separately under their own identifier, accessible only to that user and to the ParseLift service. We do not sell your training data, share it for advertising, or use it for retargeting.
5. Subscription verification
Pro subscriptions are sold through Google Play. When you subscribe, the Google Play purchase token and subscription status may be handled by RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider, and sent to ParseLift's servers for verification against Google Play's subscription system. We store the result (Pro active, in grace period, or inactive) so the app shows the right features. We never see your payment card details; billing is handled by Google Play.
Pro Preview free trial. We may also offer a Pro Preview, a one-time 14 day free trial of Pro that needs no payment method. To start it, your email address must be verified. We check that your email is verified only to prevent abuse of the free trial (for example, creating many throwaway accounts to farm free AI usage). We do not use this check for any other purpose. When the preview ends, your account returns to the free tier at no charge.
6. AI coach and session review (Pro only)
AI coach and session review are available only to Pro users who confirm they are 18 or older. When you use the Pro AI features, we send the following to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model, through our servers:
- Your question or session-review prompt.
- A context summary so the assistant can answer using your numbers: your training profile (training history, motivation, and any restrictions or injury notes you entered), your active plan and next session, recent workouts and personal records, daily and session check-ins (sleep, energy, soreness, effort), calibration, and your recent messages in the conversation.
Anthropic does not use your prompts or responses to train its models. Anthropic may retain prompts and responses for a limited period to detect abuse, maintain safety and security, and meet legal obligations. Keep anything you would not share with a third-party AI provider out of coach messages.
Responses are saved in your own coach history inside the app so you can review them later. You can delete the history at any time from the coach screen. AI features are rate-limited, and the assistant will decline prompts that look like medical diagnosis, acute injury, or off-topic requests.
If you report an AI session review, we store a bounded report on your account with your session-review intent, the AI review outcome, and any proposed changes and reasons. We use these reports to investigate quality and safety issues, and they are deleted with your account unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.
7. Diagnostics and abuse prevention
We use standard diagnostic tools (Sentry crash reporting and server logs) to find crashes, monitor performance, and detect abuse. These records contain technical information about the app session (device model, operating system version, a random app-install identifier, stack traces, and event logs) but do not include your training numbers or the content of assistant conversations. Crash reporting is off by default. You can turn it on in Settings under Diagnostics, and turn it off again at any time.
8. Equipment links
Home equipment and gym profile setup screens may show optional Amazon shopping links for simple equipment categories (dumbbells, resistance bands, kettlebells). If you pick an affiliate region, we store the marketplace preference on your profile. The URLs are built from the equipment category and your chosen region only. We never include bodyweight, sex, age, restrictions, injury notes, postpartum status, or training history in shopping links.
9. Legal bases for processing (EU / UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Contract: to deliver the app, sync your account, verify Pro subscriptions, and provide support.
- Legitimate interest: to keep the service reliable and secure (server logs, abuse prevention, rate limiting).
- Consent: for optional features you choose to use. The Pro AI coach receives your training context only when you send it a message or request a session review, and you can stop sharing at any time by not using the coach. Choosing an affiliate region for shopping links is optional and can be changed in Settings. Crash reporting (Sentry) also relies on your consent: it is off by default and you control it in Settings under Diagnostics.
- Health-related details (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR): your self-reported restrictions, injury notes, and prenatal or postpartum status count as health data. We process them only with your explicit consent, given when you enter them, and only to keep your plan and coaching safe for your body. You can edit or remove them in your training profile at any time.
- Legal obligation: where retention or disclosure is required by law.
10. How long we keep data
- Local device data: kept until you uninstall the app or clear app storage.
- Synced training data: kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Deletion marker: after account deletion we keep a small record containing only your account identifier and the deletion time, so that late billing messages and sync attempts for the deleted account are safely rejected.
- Subscription records: purchase records stored in the ParseLift database are removed with the rest of your account data. Billing and tax records connected to your purchases are kept by Google Play, RevenueCat, and our bookkeeping for up to 7 years where Swedish accounting law requires it.
- Assistant history: kept until you delete it or close your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Diagnostic logs: retained for up to 90 days, then automatically purged.
11. International data transfers
The services we rely on may process personal data in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. For Google Firebase, RevenueCat, Anthropic, and Sentry, ParseLift relies on each provider's data-processing terms and the transfer safeguards they offer, including the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum or IDTA where required, and adequacy decisions such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where a provider relies on one. Google Play processes billing and distribution data under Google's own controller terms rather than as our processor. For the Pro AI coach, your prompt and training-context summary are sent to Anthropic for processing under Anthropic's Commercial Terms and Data Processing Addendum, which include the Standard Contractual Clauses where required. The full processor list is on the GDPR rights page.
12. Security
Sign-in uses Google's authentication system. Cloud-synced data is access-controlled per user. Server endpoints require a signed app integrity token and a valid session. These are standard practices; no online service can guarantee perfect security, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials private.
Local backup files created via Settings → Backup are stored in the app's private directory on your device. If you choose a passphrase, the backup is encrypted; if you do not choose one, the backup file is unencrypted. Other apps cannot normally read app-private files, but backups can be extracted using developer tools (Android Debug Bridge) on a rooted or unlocked device. Treat exported backups like any sensitive file: store them somewhere private and delete them when you no longer need them.
13. Children
ParseLift is suitable for lifters aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it. Users aged 13 to 17 should have a parent or guardian involved in their training. Users aged 13 to 17 cannot use the Pro AI coach or AI session review features.
14. Your choices and account deletion
From inside the app you can: export your training data to a CSV file, create a local backup, sign out to stop sync, and delete your account and synced data from Settings > Account. Account deletion removes associated cloud data within 30 days unless a longer period is required by law.
You can also request account deletion without the app installed: email support@parselift.com from the address registered to your account, and we will delete your account and the synced data listed above within 30 days. Billing and tax records connected to your purchases may be retained longer by Google Play, RevenueCat, and our bookkeeping where the law requires it.
For a step-by-step guide to both routes, exactly what is removed, and what we keep for legal reasons, see the Delete your account page.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app changes meaningfully, and the effective date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes we will also tell you inside the app.
